BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland will be carrying out partial and full closures of the Forth Road Bridge during the October.

This is to undertake safe lifting of bridge steelwork for refurbishment and removal of single lane closures currently in place for end of October.

These works are scheduled to take place overnight when traffic volumes are lower for the safety of the workforce and public.

- Southbound closure Saturday 17th October 2026 21:30 to Sunday 18th October 2026

- Southbound closure Sunday 18th October 2026 21:30 to 04:00 Monday 19th October
2026
- Southbound closures on Monday 26th October 2026 and Tuesday 27th October 2026
between 21:30 to 04:00 each night
- Full Forth Road Bridge closures on Wednesday 28th October 2026 and Thursday 29th
October 2026 between 21:30 to 04:00 each night.

Additionally, there will be a periods of contraflow between Monday 12th October to Saturday 28th October 2026 for lifting works. This shall include a small section of manned temporary traffic lights with delays kept to a minimum with traffic able to travel both north and south over the bridge throughout.
During the Southbound carriageway closures, Forth Road Bridge east footway will remain open during the works, with short period of delay while lifting works are undertaken and allow pedestrians / cyclists to safely pass.
